CARRIE SEMKE, PHD

Dr. Carrie Semke works with children and adolescents displaying a variety of psychological, behavioral, developmental, academic, family, peer, and health-related difficulties. Her goal is to improve the overall health and functioning of children and to provide families with lasting changes and hope for the future. Dr. Semke has a warm and inviting style while taking an individualized, practical, and evidenced-based approach to treatment.

She specializes in the treatment of a variety of childhood concerns, including anxiety, attention problems, autism spectrum disorders, coping with stress, depression, defiance, developmental delays, sleep problems, and more. Treatment may include behavior management by the child’s caregivers or direct individual or family therapy. She also conducts comprehensive assessments to determine accurate diagnoses, inform treatment, and monitor progress towards treatment goals. She may also provide consultation with other professionals working with children.

Dr. Carrie Semke received her doctorate in psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She completed her internship at the Munroe-Meyer Institute at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and gained valuable experience in behavioral pediatrics. At UNMC, Dr. Semke provided assessments and evidence-based treatment of behavioral health problems (e.g., disruptive behavior, ADHD, sleep, toileting) encountered by children, adolescents, and their families. She has experience providing psychological treatment and collaborating with physicians in various settings, including outpatient hospital clinics, primary care clinics, and interdisciplinary clinics (e.g., Neonatal Follow-up Clinic, Cardiac Follow-up Clinic). Dr. Semke is currently a licensed psychologist in the state of Nebraska and has been working in private practice in Lincoln since 2011.
