Shayla Hinrichsen is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.  She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  Shayla provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management for the treatment of OCD, PTSD, ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorder, and behavioral disorders.  She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults.

Prior to beginning her career as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, Shayla worked as a registered nurse in a private psychiatric clinic and the intensive care unit (ICU) at a local hospital.  Shayla’s nursing experience has allowed her to develop thorough assessment skills and extensive medical knowledge in caring for individuals with a wide array of serious medical conditions and chronic illness.  Shayla’s background has given her an in-depth understanding of the bidirectional relationship between physical and mental health.

Shayla practices integrative care through ongoing collaboration with psychotherapists and other health care professionals.  Shayla strives to promote mental health and wellness through an individualized, holistic, and evidence-based approach to care.  She believes the treatment of mental illness goes beyond medication alone and values the interrelationship of pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy.  Mental health involves physical health, sleep hygiene, spirituality, social support, a sense of purpose, lifestyle and nutrition.  Shayla enjoys working in conjunction with patients to develop individualized treatment goals and is passionate about empowering others to obtain optimal psychological health and well-being.
